The vast majority of caprolactam is used to produce polycaprolactam, of which about 90% is used to produce synthetic fibers, namely, Kaplon, and 10% is used as plastics to manufacture gears, bearings, pipes, medical devices, electrical and insulating materials, etc. It is also used in coatings, plastic agents, and in small amounts for synthesizing lysine.
